Hello! My name is Maria Simeone and I currently attend Garnet Valley High School as a Senior. If I had to describe myself in three words, I would use compassionate, thoughtful, and adventurous. Ever since I was younger, it was clear to my family that I had a passion for helping others. Following this passion, I participate in a wide variety of clubs at my school that are dedicated to helping the community. One of the clubs I am most involved in is Interact Club. Through this club, I volunteer at events at a local scale all in an effort to help others. Another club I follow this passion in is through Garnet Valley’s Students Unite For Her Club. Unite For Her is a local organization that provides complementary therapies for women in my community battling breast cancer. I am the Vice President this club. My role is to help manage events at school to raise awareness and funds to aid in the fight against breast cancer. Another club that I dedicate my time to is Social Justice Club. Through Social Justice Club, we raise awareness and advocate for the solution to social issues affecting our country. To aid those facing homelessness, we put together events and raised money to purchase toys for children in a homeless shelter. We visited a homeless shelter and packed the toys for children currently living in the shelter during the holiday season. Aside from my passion for helping others, I enjoy singing and dancing. In my freshman and sophomore years of high school, I participated in my school’s productions of Footloose, Music Man, Bye Bye Birdie, and Rent. While participating in those musicals, I was an active member of my school’s Drama Club. Outside of classes, I enjoy meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. I am part of Spanish Club to engulf myself in the language and cultures of Spanish-speaking countries that I hope to travel to one day. Meeting new people and experiencing new cultures is a large factor in college. My goal is to gain admission into a distinguished university in order to study business and law. I wish to fulfill my passions and follow a path of achieving happiness. -
